This was our fourth time that Switzerland Tourism had commissioned us to build them a unique track for an event. They were so impressed with the bespoke ‘Hill Climb Rally Stage‘ in 2019, the ‘Furka Pass Hill Climb‘ in 2021 and the ‘Swiss Inspired Hill Climb Bespoke Track‘ that they asked us to build them another custom track that would give a good representation of ‘St. Moritz’ which they can showcase at the ‘Goodwood Revival 2023‘. It was really good to hear that everyone involved was over the moon with all aspects of this track. The organisers of ‘The ICE St Moritz‘ were very impressed.
The doors opened to ‘Over the Road’ on Thursday 7th September at 4pm and straight away the stand was busy. As well as our custom made track, Swiss wine and cheese was available to all who entered, except for children obviously. We were constantly busy until we closed the stand. Every day as soon as we opened the doors on the 10m x 10m tent people were admiring our track and also having a race.

Every day there was a Swiss hamper available for the ‘Fastest Lap’ of the day, which was announced at 8pm each day. The Switzerland Tourism team had a constant stream of people through the doors to talk to, and promote, Switzerland; especially the area of St Moritz. It was really nice meeting all people who had been to, or live in, St Moritz who were complimenting the track and saying how much of a great representation our it was of the area; especially the Cresta Run and The St Moritz ICE race.
ABOUT GOODWOOD REVIVAL: In the autumn of 1998 motor racing returned to Goodwood for the first time since the closure of the famous Motor Circuit in 1966. Known as the Goodwood Revival, the event has since become one of the biggest historic motorsport events in the world and the only one to be staged entirely in period dress.
The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival and is staged at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, it’s mid-September date now firmly established in the international motorsport calendar. The event is defined by its period dress code: tweeds and trilbies for men, furs and frocks for the ladies, and by its refusal to allow modern cars within the circuit on race days. It is also famed for its war bird flying displays in recognition of Goodwood’s history as a wartime fighter base.
The first Revival took place 50 years after the 9th Duke of Richmond and Gordon opened the motor racing track in 1948, driving around the circuit in a Bristol 400, then Britain’s state-of-the-art sporting saloon. Most people dress in period clothes. It is one of the world’s most popular motor race meetings and the only United Kingdom event which recreates the 1950s and 1960s era of motorsport.
The revival race meeting is a showcase for wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit, untouched by more modern developments, and relives the glory days of Goodwood Circuit, which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain’s leading racing venue throughout its active years. Between 1948 and 1966 Goodwood hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the Goodwood Nine Hours race, and the Tourist Trophy sports car race.
There are several races over the three days including the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy (2016–present; formerly known as the Kinrara Trophy) a 1-hour race for GT cars that raced until 1963. Richmond & Gordon Trophies a 25 minute race for 2.5 litre Grand Prix cars from 1954 to 1960. St Mary’s Trophy is a Pro-am event made up of two 25 minute races decided on aggregate. Whitsun Trophy a 20 minute race for prototypes up until 1966. Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration is a one hour race for pro/ams for cars up until 1964 which raced in the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy when it was held at Goodwood. Glover Trophy a 20 minute race for 1.5 litre Grand Prix cars from 1961 to 1965. Goodwood Trophy a 20 minute race for Grand Prix & Voiturette cars from 1930-1951. There is also a pedal car race for youngsters called the Settrington Cup, featuring Austin J40 pedal cars.
