On Saturday 9th September 2023 we had an action packed day of digital Scalextric racing at the Mclaren Technology Centre in Woking for their ‘McLaren Automotive Family Day’ to celebrate their magnificent achievement of ‘60 years of McLaren’ with an amazing open day event for their staff and partners.
The day enabled families to enjoy and see Formula 1 from a different angle, have a tour of some of the facilities, play on all the activities laid on for the families. We installed one of the largest mobile digital Scalextric tracks we’ve made at 8m x 2.5m, Naturally we raced McLaren slot cars on this circuit..
But what a track it was; with some very long straights, flowing corners and of course some tight technical sections. This track even made the Magnetic Racing model Ferris Wheel look small. As well as our giant digital Scalextric track, we supplied a branded podium for all those celebratory pictures (we just weren’t aloud to spray champagne every where).

As soon as the doors opened at 9am we were flat out racing all the way throughout the day, and even past the finish time. Some amazing close racing was had, some super overtakes and some really good racing banter…What a day! The event had lots going on, including passenger rides around their lake in a McLaren 720s, a collection of F1 cars and trophy’s, Virtual Reality simulators, pit stop challenges, amazing factory walks showing the production of a McLaren and even a chance to sit in a £20 million F1 GTR.
ABOUT MCLAREN: Designed by the globally renowned British architect Lord Norman Foster, the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking is a spectacular architectural statement. Dramatic, yet discreet. The McLaren Technology Centre is the headquarters of the McLaren Group and its subsidiaries, located on a 500,000 m2 (50 ha) site in Woking, Surrey, England. The complex consists of two buildings: the original McLaren Technology Centre, which acts as the main headquarters for the group, and the newer McLaren Production Centre, primarily used for manufacturing McLaren Automotive cars.
The main building is a large, roughly semi-circular, glass-walled building, designed by architect Norman Foster and his company, Foster + Partners. The building was short-listed for the 2005 Stirling Prize, which was won by the Scottish Parliament building. By 2015, approximately 1,500 people worked at the Technology Centre. The Technology Centre also serves as the home to McLaren Racing, McLaren Automotive, and other companies of the McLaren Group.
