EVENT: ‘Festival of Porsche’ with Porsche Club GB

On Saturday 6th August we were at ‘The Motorist‘ for the ‘Festival of Porsche‘ with Porsche Club GB. Perfectly situated in the heart of Yorkshire, ‘The Motorist‘ was the ideal venue for a full day of expert talks, tasty food and of course their famous northern hospitality. The team from Porsche Club GB asked if we could set up one of our giant branded Scalextric setups for them at this large event they were hosting in Yorkshire.
We arrived early for setup and were greeted by the ever friendly organisers of the event and also the staff from ‘The Motorist’. We’ve not been to this establishment before and our first impressions were that it looked amazing. At the event there were well over 750 porsches and 1000+ people.
We had many people come over to the track who put some great times in, we were consistently busy throughout the day. We even had a very tall man dressed in orange and another life-form have a couple of races (see the pictures below to see what we mean)! There were quite a few who kept coming back many times to try and claim the ‘Fastest Lap of the Day’ and go top of our Top Gear style magnetic leaderboard, where the winner would win a Porsche goody bag.
In the end, and after many laps, Peter got the top spot and was crowned champion with a time of 7.322 seconds. BUT…the 2nd place racer, Sadie, tried sooo hard to go fastest we decided award her with a Porsche cap and key-ring for her great effort and a time of 7.545 seconds.
The Motorist is named after the iconic corner on the famous Le Mans circuit. The new restaurant and conference space has different areas named after iconic drivers, famous circuits with thoughtful details throughout the venue relating to the world of motorsport. And just like the memorable view on the famous corner of the Le Mans track, The Arnage boasts an incredible view from the balcony of all the cars at our events throughout the year.
