Founded in 1985 by the successful automotive publisher John Haynes OBE, the Haynes Motor Museum is an independent registered charity. They look after a collection of more than 300 vehicles and automotive memorabilia as well as an extensive library and archive.

Our team at Think Scalextric Events were delighted to collaborate with Scalextric on a very special installation for the Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset — a custom-built slot car circuit designed to reflect both the museum’s iconic setting and the wider charm of the local area.

Celebrating Somerset in Miniature
The vision for this project was to create a unique, location-inspired track that visitors could instantly recognise and connect with. The result is a rich, immersive setting that captures the spirit of the county and gives racers a genuine sense of place as they compete around the circuit. Using detailed modelling and scenic craftsmanship, we recreated

Built for Scalextric and the Public
This project came to life thanks to Scalextric, who approached us to design, build, and install the track at the museum. Combining traditional build methods with modern Scalextric components for smooth, durable, and reliable performance under heavy daily use.
We also supplied a complete digital racing setup, ensuring that visitors of all ages can enjoy exciting, side-by-side racing with modern controllers and cars.

Ongoing Care and Maintenance
Our involvement didn’t stop at installation. As part of our ongoing partnership, Think Scalextric Events continues to maintain and service the track, providing regular tune-ups, repairs, and new equipment as needed. We work closely with the museum’s team to make sure everything runs perfectly, from power systems to cars and controllers, so that guests always enjoy a first-class racing experience.
Bringing People Together Through Play
Today, the Haynes Museum slot car track runs every single day, offering fun and excitement to visitors young and old. It has become a standout attraction within the museum — a place where nostalgia, motorsport, and local pride all meet in miniature.
