On Saturday 7th September 2024 we had an action packed day of digital Scalextric racing at the Mclaren Technology Centre in Woking for the Ayrton Senna themed ‘McLaren Automotive Family Day’, which was an amazing open day event for their staff and partners.

The day enabled staff and their family members to enjoy and see McLaren from a different angle, have a tour of some of the facilities and enjoy all the activities laid on for the families. We installed one of the largest mobile digital Scalextric tracks we’ve made at 8m x 2.5m, naturally we raced McLaren slot cars on this circuit.

What a track it was, it had very long straights, some flowing and some tight corners, we also thought we’d add some Senna S’s especially for this Senna themed event. We also added some Magnetic Racing products on the track, including Dodgems, Reims Grandstand and a couple of Footbridges. As well as our giant digital Scalextric track, we supplied a podium for the top 3 of each race to stand on to remember the occasion.

In collaboration with Senna Brand and McLaren Racing Official Primary Partner OKX, the ‘McLaren SENNA presented by OKX’ campaign celebrates Senna’s incredible racing legacy, hence this Senna themed event. As soon as the doors opened at 9am we were flat out racing all the way throughout the day up until the event finished at 6pm. Some amazing close racing was had, some super overtakes and plenty of obligitary racing banter! What a day, the event had lots going on, including passenger rides around their lake in a McLaren road cars, a collection of F1 cars and trophy’s, racing simulators, face painters, an amazing factory tour showing the production of the McLaren cars. An event wouldn’t be great without some amazing food, and McLaren didn’t disappoint there with several food/drink vans.

About the McLaren Senna Sempre: As part of McLaren’s Senna30 celebrations this one-off road-car livery, dubbed the McLaren Senna ‘Sempre’ Livery (Senna Sempre meaning “Senna Forever”), has been brought to life by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) and created as part of our ongoing association with the Ayrton Senna Institute. The intricate design showcases MSO’s incredible paint expertise, and features a newly developed ‘wash’ technique that allows MSO’s paint specialists to blend paints into each other without creating any additional colours, evoking speed and the movement of a waving flag. With a host of poignant details, it serves as a striking expression of Ayrton’s personality.
