Can You Beat One of the Chasers?

On Tuesday 4 August, Hawkins Motor Group welcomed ITV’s The Chase star Shaun Wallace to Cornwall for The Shaun Wallace Charity Scalextric Challenge. The fantastic fundraising event was held in support of Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Throughout the afternoon and evening, the local community joined Hawkins Motor Group for an enjoyable event filled with friendly competition, entertainment and fundraising for one of Cornwall’s most important charities.

From 2pm until 9pm, visitors had the opportunity to meet Shaun Wallace and attempt to beat his fastest lap around a specially constructed mobile Scalextric track, created with the support of Think Scalextric.

Meanwhile, competitors raced a miniature version of Hawkins Motor Group’s iconic Cornish Tartan car around the circuit, all hoping to beat Shaun’s quickest lap time. However, the Scalextric challenge was just one of several attractions on offer. In addition, guests tested their skills in a putting competition, cornhole and a 60-second rowing challenge, while enjoying a selection of local food and drink throughout the event.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was when Shaun Wallace, along with Julia Francis, who is the daughter of the inventor of Scalextric, presented a young boy a Fast and Furious Scalextric Set. The young boy showed a fantastic competitive spirit on his quest to beat The Dark Destroyer. Seeing the excitement on his face, along with some tears from the watching audience, perfectly captured what the event was all about.

Most importantly, the funds raised during the event were donated to Cornwall Air Ambulance, helping to support the lifesaving work carried out by its crews across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore the latest models from Hawkins Motor Group’s leading automotive brands, including Hyundai, Nissan, MG and Citroën.
